“The Department of Personnel Management has been established as a central government agency under an act of parliament called the “Public Service Management Act 1986″, and its subsequent amendments of 1995.The Public Service, through its institutions, play a vital role in the Government’s macro-economic, social, political, and development management goals.”

Roles & Responsibilities of the DPM

  • Advise the Minister & Government on
    all matters of Public Employment Policy in the Public Sector, and secure policy
    direction to facilitate effective management
  • Administer the PS(M) Act and
    promulgate regulations, General Orders and instructions to facilitate
    organisation, manpower, terms & conditions, employment, training &
    industrial relations and payment of public employees
  • Facilitate
    and regulate the employment of non-citizens through the administration of the Public
    Employment (Non-Citizens ) Act.
  • Regulate
    terms and conditions of employment and conduct of industrial relations across
    the public sector through administration of the Salaries & Conditions
    Monitoring Committee (SCMC) Act.

  • Regulation of organisation and staffing in the State Services
  • Regulation of terms and conditions in the Public Sector.
