DPM HOSTS MEDIA WORKSHOP
The Department of Personnel Management has successfully completed its Media Workshop held in Port Moresby at the Central Government Building recently.
The workshop brought together senior officials and media representatives to enhance collaboration, transparency and understanding of public service operations.
The workshop featured presentations by the department’s three deputy secretaries who outlined the department’s functions, systems and the key role of the media in communicating factual, timely and clear information to the public.
The event delivered on its objective of deepening mutual knowledge between the public service and media, and reinforcing the media’s role as a tool to drive transparency.
On behalf of the Secretary DPM Secretary, Deputy Secretary Policy Reforms Mr Elisson Kalimet emphasized that by working with the media we ensure that the public service is accountable, and by engaging the media proactively we build trust and improve service-delivery outcomes.
The workshop allowed open dialogue, practical sessions and question and answer segments in which the media gained insight into the processes of public service appointments, organisational reforms and policy implementation.
Media participants welcomed the transparency and clarity provided, and pledged to strengthen relationships moving forward.
Looking ahead, DPM will build on this momentum by organising periodic media engagement sessions, issuing regular briefings, and ensuring that its internal reforms and policy communications remain accessible and well-understood by the media and public alike.
This initiative aligns with the department’s broader reform mandate and its commitment to good governance.
