PSMA CONSULTATIONS CONTINUE

The Department of Personnel Management has begun consultations in Port Moresby with key government stakeholders as part of a nationwide review of the Public Service Management Act (PSMA).

The consultations are focused on gathering views from government agencies, statutory bodies, and public sector partners to modernise the Act and strengthen the public service’s efficiency, accountability, and performance.

The review of the PSMA Act is part of the Government’s broader reform agenda to ensure the PSMA remains relevant and supports effective service delivery.

The Public Service Management Act is the foundation of how our public service operates Ms Rachael Kiap said.
“These consultations will ensure that the revised Act reflects today’s challenges and builds a stronger, more responsive public sector,” said Ms Kiap.

Following the Port Moresby discussions, DPM will roll out consultations to the Highlands, Momase, New Guinea Islands, and Southern regions before finalising proposed amendments for submission to the National Executive Council (NEC).

The review aligns with the Government’s priorities under Vision 2050 and the Medium-Term Development Plan IV (2023–2027) to build a modern, efficient, and accountable public service.
